The wiring job* that I started about a month ago is still unfinished. In my usual manner, I get very enthusiastic about it and spend a few weeks at it. Long nights after work in torch light, soldering. My enthusiasm-span is about two weeks, after which I usually find another interest.
The 'other interest' in this case was to get this website up and running. So today when I had the option to spend the whole afternoon completing the wiring, I instead opened a can of drink and sat behind my laptop.
It is easier to write about doing stuff than it is to do stuff.
I lodged my application for Australian Citizenship today. In my short interview I was asked "When do you plan to leave?" and "What keeps you here?" I told I plan to leave 31 July but only for a few years. I couldn't think of anything that 'keeps me here' other than my desire to live in Australia. I thought that would be enough.
I also had to answer a written question: "Have you ever been associated with any terrorist group or taken part in any terrorist activities?" In case the answer would be 'yes' they had an area in the form that lets you list all the terrorist activities and organisations that you have been involved with! (What a great way to keep the terrorists out of the country, asking if you are a terrorist. If you say yes, you wont get in! Why not have the red and green lane at the airports replaced with a terrorists / non-terrorists lanes?)
The woman then told me that first I will receive a letter advising me if my application has been successful and then I would receive another letter inviting my to the citizenship ceremony. I took that as an indication that my application would be successful, but she's not allowed to tell me that. We shall see in a few weeks...
