Education is what survives
when what has been learnt has been forgotten.

Back to the beginning...

I went sailing with Paula. I had my 37th birthday. I thought of things in life. I moved 'Aliisa' back to Cairns Cruisinng Yacht Squadron (CCYS) where I lived for three years until Sonya left.

I feel like being a rock that needs to circle one more time around the familiar things before being launched off its orbit into the unknown.

So I'm back up the creek. A glass of wine has gone from $1.50 to $2.00. But it gets me drunk just the same. The stories around the table are same.

Paula

Paula is now back in my life. In a funny kind of cautious way we admit that we enjoy each others ccompany and in a funny kind of cautious way we start sharing the food, the boat, the boat, our bodies...and each others company.

Other people's judgement

While I'm learning to make a life of my own, I am also learning how to cope with others trying to make their lifes of their own. A large catamaran called 'Sukari', moored next to me, is a home to John and Rosemary. They don't like nudity. I never wear clothes onboard. After being called an exhibinionist and being told that my nudity is not only offensive but also against the law, I found myself full of questions:

If it was ok for me to be naked when I was a little boy, why is it not now? What was the moment in my life when my nudity became offensive?

What is a public place? If a man walks naked in his home, is his home a public place? What if he's standing on the roof?

If one person sees you naked, are you being offensive? If no-one sees you, are you still being offensive?

This world will always have dangers for those who fear.

Paula with Tequila Sunrise..at sunrise
Paula is enjoying her Tequila Sunrise at sunrise 28 October.(Yes, she's a Scorpio.) It's 0545am and we go straight back to bed after taking some sunrise photos. On the right, a freshly painted backgammon board on the cockpit seat is now replacing the old footprints*. With magnetic pieces (She's made of steel) we should be able to have a game in almost any weather.
