Got a letter from the minister today. This was the first out of the two promised letters by the lady in the immigration office. I have been approved and in about three months time I will become an Australian Citizen. (Time to down a few coldies over a barbie, ay!)
But I'll always be a Finn, anyway. I've lived 25 years in Finland, where I was born, and seven years in Australia. I'm quite happy to be an Aussie and I'm confident that I'll be back here after my cruise. Don't ever think that I would give away my Finnish passport though.

My walking route between work and home passes the new swimming lagoon. The muddy waters of Cairns foreshore are in the background while the kids splash about in the clear pool. The reef boats are coming back home in the horizon.
