Originally I planned a one-year voyage from Cairns to Finland. This would have forced me out of Darwin as early as possible (August) to push across Indian Ocean and cross the Mozabique Channel before the southern cyclone season, which starts in November / December).
Some time ago I decided that this option is too rushed, taking away the pleasure of cruising as well as crossing out a lot of nice places from the itinerary.
On 14 October 2004, Aliisa was the only yacht contemplating a trip up around Sumatra to Thailand. I felt nervous about the 1353 mile voyage. It turned out to be the hardest voyage so far.
